“It is okay to own a technology, what is not okay is to be owned by technology.”- Abhijit Naskar

Today, billions of individuals are active on various social media platforms thanks to social media’s enormous influence. WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms

In the last few years, social media has seen many users and users with different purposes a few are there for fun and scrolling also some of them are for business as well. India is the third biggest country in terms of internet users in the world, with a high social and mobile audience, and no surprise to guess that the students are the most active on social media.

Students are more connected than ever before through social media, especially during these difficult times, when they are physically distanced from their family, friends, and peers. Even though social media helps in expressing and becoming creative.

Earlier social media was means of entertainment and a source of information for some, but later it turned into addiction students registered themselves on different social media platforms at an early age which ultimately delays them from focussing on things that are meant to be learned from the very early age.

Social media can also hurt students, both physically and mentally. Nowadays students often suffer from various health issues like poor sleep, eye fatigue, negative body image, depression, anxiety, cyberbullying, and more.

If we talk about the negative impact of anything, it will be wrong not to talk about the positive impact of anything everything has positives and negatives.

The positive impact of social media-

  • Connect with people without any barrier – The good thing with social media is that it allows connecting and talking to people without any location barrier or time barrier.

You can connect anytime and anywhere.

  • Learning experience- There are certain apps, Instagram handles also YouTube channels that help the students adapt and learn better through a better understanding of any subject.

The negative impact of social media

  • Negative impact on health – social media can be extremely addictive at times de and we often use it for so long that it leads to eye fatigue, headache, and other issues like lack of sleep.
  • Distract from your goals – It is very clearly visible that student spend their best

Years and crucial years wasting time on social media doing nothing productive.

It will be wrong if we say that social media is wrong or right if it is used correctly; it’s a very good thing; otherwise, it can lead to things going haywire.
